I’m Yaz Mubarakai, your State Member of Parliament.
I was born and raised in Mumbai, but have spent more than 20 years in our community, running the Success post office, Café Royal and Majestic India restaurant and raising my kids.
Outside of being a parent and small business owner, I served as a councillor for the City of Cockburn, granting me an insight into the importance of well-planned and serviced communities.
In my spare time, I play for the Leeming Spartans Cricket Club and spend most of my weekends running between social sports with my kids.
I ran as the WA Labor candidate for Jandakot in 2017 because I knew that we were being taken for granted by the then Liberal Government.
As a parent I shared your frustration by the Liberal’s inability to address overcrowding in our kids’ schools. We had the fastest population growth rates in the country, and very little was occurring.
Families that I knew were worried about a lack of job opportunities for their kids. TAFE fees went up by 340 percent and there was no plan for Western Australian jobs.
The success of our community has been my highest priority. I have worked tirelessly to ensure that your concerns are addressed.
We have introduced four new schools, invested nearly a billion dollars in transport infrastructure including METRONET, and upgraded several of our community facilities.
I have always made myself available to hear your concerns because I care about our home and our community.
